  • Court again rules in favor of TRLU's claim. Superior Court Judge Linda B. Quinn awards $28,264 in costs to Taxpayers for Responsible Land Use.

  • Court rules in favor of TRLU's claim. Superior Court Judge Linda B. Quinn struck down the City of San Diego's decision to permit the construction of a 12,000 square foot student center with a 17,000 square foot garage in a single family residential neighborhood adjacent to UCSD. The City must also rescind the sale of City land to Hillel of San Diego for the project, which citizens argued was sold substantially below fair market value.

  • Hearing for the plaintiffs' briefs in support of Writ of Mandamus under California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA) and in support of petition for Writs of Mandate (CCP Sections 1094.5 and 1085). These briefs were submitted on January 8, 2007. The reply briefs from the opposition are available for the CEQA and the Writs of Mandate briefs.

  • Preliminary Injunction Hearing on Land Sale (see Legal Docs page) The preliminary injunction to prevent the sale of the land was denied. The ruling did not take into consideration our submittal of October 30, 2006 that included the emails referred to in a number of news articles. Follow the money!

  • Citizen Groups Successful in Stopping Student Center in Residential Neighborhood. Coast Law Group of Encinitas, CA announces in a press release that San Diego Superior Court has ruled in favor of the plaintiff in the lawsuit Taxpayers for Responsible Land Use and La Jolla Shores Association v. City of San Diego; (Hillel of San Diego, Real Party-in-Interest).
