Taxpayers for Responsible Land Use
On May 9, 2006, the San Diego City Council thwarted the will of
local planning groups, ignored a unanimous decision from the Planning
Commission, violated California law and the City's regulations, and
neglected its responsibilities. It did that by approving the construction
of a student center on Site 653 and allowing a below market sale of the
city-owned parcel (Site 653) at the corner of Torrey Pines Road and La
Jolla Village Drive by a 6-2 vote.
On June 12, 2006, Taxpayers for Responsible Land Use, a non-profit corporation, and the La Jolla Shores Association filed suit against the City in San Diego Superior Court.
We need donations. Unlike campaigns to support or oppose a project working its way through the City approval process, this matter is now in the hands of attorneys to work out the details of city and state land-use law. This process, however, is not cheap and we need donations to cover the costs of litigation.
